Matles Test

Execution:

  1. Patient is in prone lying position with the knees flexed to 90°
  2. The examiner observes the position of the patient’s feet

 

Positive Outcome: In case of an Achilles tendon rupture, the foot on the affected side will move into neutral or dorsiflexed position, while with an intact tendon, the foot will remain in slight plantar flexed position

Comment: The associated likelihood ratios alter the post-test probability to a moderate degree and the included study had a fairly high risk of bias which is why the clinical value is moderate
