Resisted Cross-Body Sit-Up Test | Core Muscle Injuries

Execution:

  1. The patient lies in supine position
  2. The examiner stands on the affected side and places the affected leg into a figure 4 position
  3. The examiner places one hand on the patient’s contralateral shoulder and the other on the patient’s knee
  4. The patient is asked to bring the contralateral shoulder to the knee on the affected side against the examiner’s resistance so as to perform a cross-body sit-up

Positive Outcome: Reproduction of familiar pubic or groin pain

Comment: The Cross-Body Sit-Up test has a a moderate clinical value in the diagnosis of CMIs due to the rate of false positive tests
