Execution:
- Patient lies on the unaffected side with the upper hip flexed to 90°, maximal adduction and the upper knee flexed to 90°
- The examiner ensures both acetabulae remain vertical and applies upward and lateral pressure to the patient’s shin while passively internally rotating the hip to 45° (or as near the patient can tolerate)
Positive Outcome: Patient reports pain at the intersection of the sciatic nerve and the m. piriformis
