Position of the therapist:
- Standing medial to the leg to be examined/treated
Position of the patient:
- Side lying position on side to be examined/treated
- Femur rests on a towel at the short edge of the bench
- Tibia hangs freely over the edge
- Tibia flexed to 30° and externally rotated
- Other leg flexed for stability
Hand placement:
- Ipsilateral hand grabs tibia distally
- Contralateral hand medially on proximal tibia
Direction:
- Roll and glide into lateral and increasingly proximal direction
N.B:
As the medial condyle of the tibia reaches slightly more distal compared to its lateral partner, you direction has a slight ankle into proximal direction and is not completely perpendicular to the tibia
