Position of the therapist:
- Standing lateral to the arm to be examined/treated
Position of the patient:
- Sitting at the long edge of the bench
- Elbow on the slightly lifted head part of the bench
- Shoulder and elbow in MLPP
- Elbow in pronation
Hand placement:
- Therapist’s contralateral hand fixates the forearm on the bench
- Other hand grabs the patient’s proximal intercarpal row from dorsal
- Index finger and thumb embrace the intercarpals from palmar
- Alternative: see video
Direction:
- Roll into palmar and increasingly proximal direction
- Glide by a pull on the proximal intercarpal row into dorsal and decreasingly distal direction
N.B:
The distal component is added as the distal radioulnar joint reaches slightly more distal on the dorsal side compared to the palmar side
