Elbow Flexion Roll & Glide

Humeroulnar Joint:

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing lateral to the arm to be examined/treated

Position of the patient:

  • Supine lying position
  • Arm in 70° abduction
  • Forearm in supination

Hand placement:

  • One hand grabs the distal ulna
  • Other hand placed on proximal ulna at a 45° angle

Direction:

  • Roll into flexion
  • Glide into ventral and increasingly proximal direction

 

Humeroradial Joint:

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing medial to the arm to be examined/treated

Position of the patient:

  • Supine lying position
  • Arm in 70° abduction
  • Forearm in supination

Hand placement:

  • One hand grabs the distal radius
  • Base of other hand placed on proximal radius at a 90° angle

Direction:

  • Roll into flexion
  • Glide into ventral direction
