Position of the therapist:
- Standing at the long edge of the bench
Position of the patient:
- Side-lying position close to the edge of the bench facing the examiner
- Bottom leg completely extended, the other leg bent with its foot hooked behind the other knee
- Lumbar spine brought into slight extension via the hip to protect the IVD
- Head rotated with trunk
- Arms crossed in front of the chest
Hand placement:
- Therapist sticks one hand through the patient’s crossed arms with the forearm placed against the patient’s coracoid process
- Fixating hand on lower vertebra of level to be manipulated
- Other hand rotates trunk from above until resistance is felt
- Fixating hand creates pre-tension by rotating pelvis in opposite direction
Impuls:
- A body drop and resulting in opposite rotations guided by the therapist’s handsĀ
