Execution:
- Patient is in prone lying position with extended legs
- The examiner then passively abducts the patient’s hips as far as possible
- Afterwards, the patient is asked to flex both knees to 90° and thus shorten the gracilis at the knee
- The examiner then tries to passively abduct the patient’s hips further
Positive Outcome: The examiner is able to further abduct the patient’s hips after 90° of knee flexion, which indicates a shortened gracilis muscle
