90-90 Straight Leg Raise / Active Knee Extension Test | Hamstring Length

Execution:

  1. Patient is in supine position with the hips and knees flexed to 90° and the lumbar spine in neutral position
  2. The patient is then asked to stabilize this position by grabbing onto the back of the thighs
  3. The patient actively extends the knee on the side to be tested, while his lumbar spine remains in neutral position

Positive Outcome: The patient is not able to extend the knee further than within 20° of full extension, which indicates hamstring shortening on that side
