Execution:
- The patient extends the arm and has it rest on the treatment table with the ulnar aspect of the forearm and the wrist hanging freely
- The examiner asks the patient to make a fist with the thumb inside the fingers
- The examiner stabilizes the forearm and deviates the wrist towards the ulnar side
Positive Outcome: Sharp pain over the tendons of the abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis at the styloid process

Comment: Confusion in the literature has lead clinicians to believe that this test is the ‘Finkelstein’ test. However, this test is likely to produce a lot of false positive results due to it’s very provocative nature. |
