FADER / FADER-R / Modified Resisted External Derotation Test | Gluteal Tendinopathy

Execution:

  1. Have the patient in supine position
  2. The examiner flexes the patient’s hip to 90°, adducts the hip and adds external rotation of the hip to end-range
  3. The examiner asks the patient to perform internal rotation of the hip against the examiner’s resistance

 

Positive Outcome: Reproduction of the patient’s lateral hip pain in the region of the greater trochanter of at least 2/10 on the NPRS

Comment: The FADER Test should be used with resistance in order to help in the confirmation of the diagnosis of GTPS.
