Execution:
- Patient is in upright sitting position
- The examiner brings the patient’s arm into 70° of flexion, 90° of horizontal adduction and maximal external rotation and the patient is asked to support this position with the other arm
- The examiner then palpates the medial joint line with the thumb, maximally supinates the patient’s forearm and pulls on the patient’s thumb exerting a valgus force to the elbow
Positive Outcome: The patient experiences apprehension, instability and medial joint pain
