Stenvers Test V: Posterior Capsule of the Glenohumeral Joint, SC+AC Joint

Execution:

  1. The patient is in sitting position with a straight back
  2. The patient abducts the shoulder to 90° and flexes the elbow to 90°
  3. The scapula on the tested side is fixated by the examiner with one hand, while the other hand supports the patient’s elbow
  4. The examiner passively brings the patient’s shoulder into maximal horizontal adduction
  5. The examiner lets go of the fixating hand on the scapula and moves the patient’s shoulder further into horizontal adduction

 

Positive Outcome: The patient has less than 100° of horizontal adduction with a fixated scapula and less than 120° without fixation
