Joint Line Tenderness

Execution:

  1. Patient is in supine lying position with the knee flexed to 90° to enhance palpation of the anterior half of both menisci
  2. The examiner rotates the tibia internally and palpates the medial meniscus at the medial tibiofemoral joint line
  3. The examiner then rotates the tibia externally and palpates the lateral meniscus at the lateral tibiofemoral joint line

 

Positive Outcome: The patient experiences tenderness or pain upon palpation
