Varus Stress Test | Lateral Collateral Ligament

Execution:

  1. Patient is in supine lying position with the legs extended and the examiner standing or sitting medially to the tested knee
  2. The examiner grabs onto the distal tibia from the outside, while the other hand fixates the femur medially. The tibia is in slight lateral rotation
  3. The examiner then performs passive adduction with a fully extended knee, followed by passive adduction of the knee in 20° of flexion.

Positive Outcome: The test is positive in case of increased ROM or change of end-feel compared with the uninjured side, as well as pain reproduction
